In this opening episode we meet Kelly Cutrone and her crew at "People's Revolution." Kelly may be viewed by some as a hard ass, crying is not allowed in the office, but I think she's just brutally honest and there is a lot at steak- this is her business that she's built from the ground-up and incompetence just won't do. Lets meet the players:
Stephanie Skinner is her old assistant and is now a junior account executive. Fashion week has made this poor twenty something girl look 20 years older.
Andrew is Kelly's new assistant. She hired him because she thinks he's edgy, has a great sense of fashion and he isn't blonde.
Robyn is Kelly's business partner. She's hardworking and doesn't seem like she's even remotely interested in having fun but I could be wrong- it's only the first episode.
Emily is Kelly's other business partner and right hand. She's doesn't take any shorts and is definently the type that I could see embarrasing you in front of your co-workers without a second thought. We'll meet the rest of the group in later episodes.
With fashion week beginning Kelly reminds us of the debacle that occured last year with Ashley Dupre and the Yigal show- basically Ashley crashed the show and Yigal was not happy about it. Kelly was subsequently fired but there is no such thing as bad press so it certainly didn't hurt Kelly in any way. Ashley and her mom come to the office for a visit with Kell and it's very clear that Kelly is fond of Ms. Dupre. I think that she likes her because everyone else hates her or used to because at this point I think it's safe to say that the world has moved on and barely remembers Ashley or her scandal. Ashley has the bright (dumb) idea to crash Yigal's show (again) with shirts that say "Yigal loves Ashley". Kelly gently reminds her that that's not okay and overall a really horrible idea. On a side note, does Kelly really love Ashley? She says it a couple of times.
Maybe they go way back- I gotta google it- anyway Ashley and her mom leave and Kelly and her charges focus on a huge spanish designer, David Delfin. Andrew wears a floor length gown to the show is very impresssed with himself. We get a first-hand look at the importance of the seating at a fashion week show. Stephanie S. is working on the master seating list with David (lispy lips)- Robyn's assistant. This list is a piece of cake compared to some of the shows to come and Stephanie is already stressed!
Back at the tents someone forgets the monitor that's supposed to be backstage for the designer- but disaster is averted because the tech guys come to the rescue and save the day. Earlier Kelly had kicked a photographer out of the back for shooting first looks but in the end she makes up with him and allows him to take some shots. She's good aboout speaking her mind and then letting it go.

We get a tour of Kelly's office/ home. She explains that it's a live, work building so that she- a single mother- can be there for her daughter- nice set-up!
Meanwhile the Revolution's crew prepares for the next show, Chado Ralph Rucci and Kelly give us a lesson on the difference between real couture and juicy couture. Stephanie S. and the group are working feverishly on the seating chart which is mega important- it's serious stuff! Stephanie is feeling a lot of pressure and aging by the moment. No one checked the RSVP voice-mail and Stephanie Vorhees is the fall guy. Although Stephanie Skinner needs to learn how to delegate Stephanie Vorhees is clearly not up for the challenge.
Kelly sees that Stephanie S. is sinking and demands that Andrew help with the seating and he is visibly shaken. Andrew plays the - I'm just the assistant card- and screws up royally. Stephanie is nice enough to take him under her wing and train him. Stephanie is sure she is going to have a nervous breakdown. The morning of the show Chado's people want to see the list. Ava, Kelly's daughter who by the way is as cute as a button, comes to break up the monotony and tension by declaring that she's in third row and she doesn't want to dress up. Seriously- I love it! The Chado list will not print and Stephanie is freaking in a quiet way. Robyn sees that there is a problem and Stephanie explains to Kelly that a computer issue is causing the problem.
We'll have to see how this one works out next week.
