Kimora Life in the Fab Lane- ep 3 (pt.1) "Technology don't fail me now"

It's Fashion Week and Kimora is showcasing her Baby Phat line. She's going to be bi-coastal for this show working on the West Coast preparing the girls for their first day at their new school while managing her team on the East Coast. This year Baby Phat is going to broadcast live from Times Square so there is a lot riding on this event.

Casting is the first order of business and it's extremely important to Kimora that her runway is ethnically diverse.

Aoki and Ming always walk the runway with their mom but Kimora wants to make sure that they're all set for school before she takes them to NY. They hit Kitson Kids for back to school shopping. And then it's off to try-out for soccer. Work is important but Kimora is a mom first.

The theme of the collection this year is called Moroccan Kiss. The team is a bit nervous because this is the first time in 10 years that Kimora isn't actually live in NY overseeing everything. So teleconferencing is the way to go. Modern technology will have to work this thing out!

During the first conference call Kimora looks at the pictures of the models and it starts off a bit shaky between calls dropping, flies flying and pics not showing up. Many of the models aren't approved. So it's back to the drawing board.
Now it's on to hair and make-up. The call drops again and Kimora starts to get nervous about the wishy-washyness of modern technology and the show airing on the Jumbotron. It's super important that the live feed goes off without a hitch.

Back in LA the girls are packing their bags for the first day of school. That Aoki is a piece of work- love her!If they do really well at their new school they will secure their place on the runway with their mom.

Kimora is discussing the pre-fashion show show with her staff and assistants in LA. They're trying to book  possible celebs to host the pre-show. She goes for Robert Verdi, Kim K and Adrienne Baillon. Kimora is most excited about Adrienne agreeing to host because Ming and Aoki love "The Cheetah Girls". Next she needs a big model to walk the show and calls Russell to ask him if his ex-girlfriend, Julie would be a good pick. Kimora and Russell have a pretty admirable divorced couple relationship so this is not really weird or out of the ordinary. Besides Kimora was the one that filed for divorce so clearly she has no intimate feelings for Russell. They share two beautiful little girls and they're well-being is the most important thing to Kimora and Russell- so good for them! Here's to getting along with your ex-husband/wife. Maybe they should write a book about how to get along with your ex. It could be called "No Drama No Mess" - How to get along with your ex. Hey, I want credit if I ever hear of this coming to fruition- lol!

The team on the East Coast is waiting patiently for Kimora to call in for the first Video conference. Of course, technical difficulties abound and Kimora calls Tina (VP in NY) on her blackberry and tells her that stuff like this can't happen the day of the show and she leaves home for the teleconferencing center to see if they can actually make this video conference happen. It's a 50 minute drive to the center so the team in New York patiently wait for Kimora to make it there. LA rush hour traffic is causing the latest delay.

Kimora and Sandra (vp of marketing/branding) finally make it to the location. The first few minutes is spent with Kimora organizing the room so that she can see everyone. The meeting begins and Kimora reminds the team- specifically Ama- the coordinator- that everything needs to go off without a hitch. Not having control of this live jumbotron situation is going to make Kimora- the control freak- have a heart attack.

The NY office has a brainstorm session focusing on how to get people in Times Square to watch the show on the Jumbotrom. If people don't show up everyones job is on the line. They decide to have a contest.

Back in LA Kimora takes the girls for an afterschool treat and also talk about how their first day of school went. They had a great day and Kimora said that Aoki and Ming have earned a spot of the runway. The ladies are excited and they're off to NY.

Will the runway show be a success? Or will the Jumbotron end up turning into a huge mess?

Come back next week to see if technology is on Kimora's side. Until then keep it fabulous!
